The Young Witch Unfreezes

Yesterday, I did something I hadn't done in a long time. I sprayed anti-freeze on my car windows. Twice.
I forgot how much I hate ice and snow and cold and then I moved back to the Midwest and in my hiatus from this blog, I actually moved down to Arkansas, and this week, the world

decided it hated me and decided to create a massive weather advisory and snow/ice storm, so that not only can I not go to STL this weekend to take care of stuff for my part-time job there (because I'm the exact type of crazy who gets a job in another state and says, yes, I can definitely hold down my other part-time job as well, and for the most part, that's true under current quarantine standards) I have to ice my car windows.
I have had to do that in two years and as I stood outside, shivering, walking around my car, I remembered, "Oh right. I was California last year and didn't have to worry about dealing with the forsaken cold of the Midwest."
Those were the days.
I had to laugh at that though. Something I used to be so used to, and I had completely forgotten how necessary it was for me. Then as I drove home, I called my mom and complained about the bitter cold and how much I hated it.

That same yesterday, I also found myself unfreezing another thing. But before I say that, I have one important piece of business to disclose... I GOT A REAL LIFE JOURNALIST JOB AS A PRODUCER FOR AN ACTUAL TV STATION!!!!! Phew. That was good to get off my chest (a lot has happened since I last posted). The thing is, the last time I produced a TV show was in 2019 when I had been large and in-charge for two and half years and knew my away around TMN TV like I know the Winchester House...and the history of the Winchester of house...and the ghosts of the Winchester...and...well...you get it.
And now after a week and a day in a new place, learning a new system and a new group when the person I was working and training with decided to tell me in the middle of one of our shows that I got to take a turn leading everyone through the show. Thank God she stayed right there next to me, because I would have had a full fledged panic if she left, but I made it through, and well...unfroze. Then we did the same routine later and by the end, I knew I was back and happy for it.
I still have a lot to learn, but I got to finally unfreeze and start doing the thing I truly love again. And it helps that I have some really amazing coworkers willing to help me.
And as I was thinking I realized, it's time to unfreeze this blog as well.
Things might be a little slow at first, but once I get back in the swing of things and get my life a little more organized, be prepared!!
And while I prepare my weird stories and life lessons, here's a brief life update in bullet points:
- I've been at St. Lucas for about 6 or 7 months now
- My cats currently both love and despise me because of puppies
- My family took in some two new puppies
- I actually dated someone for the first time in five years
- I registered for my COVID vaccine
- I got 374 followers on the TikTok
- Watched all of Bridgerton
- Created two cosplays for Bridgerton
- Got back into Cosplay and Sewing
- Realized the only time I get photos of myself is when I take them in things I made
- Realized after being asked for a selfie at work for the board, I probably need to deal with that
- Started doing research to start a business with my cousin
- Started working at a TV station
- Moved to Arkansas
- Probably a million other things that I've forgotten since September that my parents will remind me about after reading this blog post
Yep. I think that sums things up. See ya next week, on "Ariel's Insane Adventures in trying to deal with the freezing temperature of the Midwest."
....I can't believed I moved back to places where the air hurts my face.
